On 7th April, the Computer Security Institute announced the results of their annual survey of 503 computer security practitioners in US organisations. The comparisons with previous years are interesting, in many cases, such as for the Security Technologies Used, Likely Sources of Attack and Types of Attach or Misuse Detected, the differences are small and, given the small sample size, probably less than the sampling error. The total annual losses that could be quantified reported continued to grow, reaching US$455 million. For details see Computer Security Institute April 7, 2002 Press Release
