Sony will remove rootkit from MicroVault

Following the revalation last month that software supplied with the Sony MicroVault USM-F uses rootkit techniques to hide a directory from the operating system, Sony has announced that it will provide an update without the dangerous technology. Sony claims the problem was in code supplied by a third-party developer from China.

F-Secure, the company that first found the problem, reports that they are helping Sony with the investigation
