HKMA Warns of Fake BOC Webpage

First published: 03rd August 2015

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has warned about a fake Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOCHK) webpage with the address "www.bochkgroup.com". BOCHK has clarified that it has no connection with the fraudulent website. Victims should contact BOCHK at 3988 2388 and any local Police Station or the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.

At the time of writing, the fraudulent URL www.bochkgroup.com had been redirected to the genuine BOCHK internet banking login page at https://its.bochk.com/login/ibs_lgn_index_e.jsp . Yui Kee's Chief Consultant Allan Dyer commented, "Taking down a fraudulent website is good, but redirecting to the genuine website is bad. It is wasting an opportunity to educate the user that the link they followed was untrustworthy. The next time they click on a dodgy link, it might be before the Police and Bank have been able to react."
