First published: 13th January 2017

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has warned that the website http://hsbcexchange.com/ is fraudulent. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) reports that the fraudulent website is similar to HSBC's official website in Hong Kong and that it entices customers to register or log in to the internet banking via the website. The site was unavailable at the time of writing.

HSBC reminds their customers that their internet banking site’s domain is http://www.hsbc.com.hk and customers should access their e-banking accounts by keying in the website address at the address bar of the browser.

Victims should contact the HSBC Personal Internet Banking service hotline at +852 2233 3000 and the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.
